This is a guide to help you navigate our admissions and selection process procedures of American College, the 2-Year Program of Hayek Global College which is a bridge towards your dream of becoming a global citizen.

Where do I start?

To begin application process of the 2-Year Program, fill out the application form.

On the form you will be asked to pay for the application fee and to schedule a date to take the  English and/or Math Proficiency tests, or submit proof of results on standardized exams to serve as waivers for the test.

What is the deadline to apply?

The selection process application will be open on a weekly basis and will close definitively when all seats are taken.

 

What does the admissions process look like?

The application process for the 2-Year Program is divided into Phases 1 and 2. 

Phase 1

In the first phase, your Math and English proficiency will be evaluated by exams in a pass/fail criteria.

These exams will be waived if you have successfully completed any of the following standardized tests or credits:

The exam will test you the following way:

  • 20 multiple-choice questions to test your English proficiency
  • 20 multiple-choice questions to test your Math proficiency 
  • 2 open questions to test your writing skills

You will have 2.5 hours at most to complete the exam.

The exam will be scheduled online on certain dates, and will be taken inside the Hayek campus. To pass, you'll have to get a score of at least 70%.

If you fail, you’ll have the chance to redo the exam in future semesters.

The questions are similar to that of the SAT exam. Take a look at a sample exam:

Phase 2

On this phase, students will be ranked according to our evaluation in the combined performance on the following activities and weight criteria:

The transcripts, video pitch and student portfolio should be submitted in a Phase 2 form, and the simulated class activity will happen online in a synchronous web conference with one of the Hayek Admission staff members. 

 

High school transcripts

The high school transcripts will be evaluated based on the overall average of your academic performance during the last three years of high school. The evaluation of your past performance will help us understand the likelihood of your success in higher education.

Student Portfolio

The student portfolio should be submitted as a .pdf document, organized according to your preference, and must include the following information:

  • In class activities 
    • A project sample which showcases an important piece of work that you have completed as part of your coursework. This could be a research project, a group assignment, a lab report, or any other substantial project that demonstrates your ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
    • A writing sample which demonstrates your ability to communicate effectively in written form. This could be an essay, research paper, report, or any other written assignment that highlights your analytical and writing skills.
  • Out-of-class activities 
    • Demonstrate any involvement in extracurricular activities such as sports, music, volunteer work, part-time jobs, or others. Hobbies such as books, video games and any other leisure time activities also count. Provide details and evidence such as pictures, videos and/or certificates.
  • Optional material
    • Submit up to three recommendation letters from teachers, counselors, or mentors who can speak to your academic abilities, character, and potential. 
    • Write a motivation letter, in 750 words maximum, outlining the reasons why the program aligns with your aspirations. Also highlight personal qualities and experiences that make you a strong candidate. You are allowed to use AI to help you write it, but having that said, be very specific of your own motivations with examples and stories. 

 

STUDENT PORTFOLIO TEMPLATE  

 

3 minutes video Pitch

In the 3-minute video pitch, you will be asked to record a video of yourself, lasting no more than 3 minutes, in which you address the following questions: 

  • Why are you interested in enrolling at Hayek Global College? 
    • Briefly tell us why you are interested in our institution, such as specific programs, faculty, curriculum, or international opportunities. 
  • Why do you consider yourself a good candidate? 
    • Highlight your key qualities that align with the college's mission and demonstrate how you will contribute to and benefit from our community.

 

Simulated Class Activity

To prepare for the simulated class activity, you will read the assigned text and complete the associated task. Then, you will schedule an online meeting with a Hayek Admissions staff member to present your solutions and demonstrate your problem-solving skills.

 

What happens if I am approved in the selection process? 

You will be eligible and called to enroll. To enroll, you must come in person to our institution with the following documents:
 

For Brazilian students:

  • Photo ID with your CPF
  • Electoral title ID (proving your participation in the last election or justification for not participating), 
  • proof of military enlistment or dispensation (for men), 
  • High school diploma, 
  • High school transcripts.

For International students:

  • Photo ID
  • High school diploma, 
  • High school transcripts.

After you enroll, you will participate in an onboarding reception at Hayek Global College, to help you get ready for the semester, including classrooms, learning resources, networking with fellow students, among other activities. Please refer to this link for updated information of Hayek’s academic calendar.

 

What happens if I am not approved in the selection process? 

You will be invited to reapply for a future semester.
