Brazilian André Aires Shares His Success Story in the USA and in the American Job Market.
A new higher education model has been launched in Brasília, offering young people the opportunity to obtain a degree both in Brazil and the United States. This is the American College dual-degree program, where students, after two years of study in Brazil, continue their education at an American university to complete their degree in fields like Computer Science, Business Administration, International Relations, Economics, Marketing, and other business-related areas. With an international faculty, all classes are taught 100% in English.
The 2+2 model (two years in Brazil and two in the USA) is offered by Hayek Global College in partnership with American institutions such as Fort Hays State University (FHSU).
Founded in 1902 and located in the city of Hays, Kansas, FHSU is a regional public university with a global reach, recognized for its leadership in the Midwest USA. The institution offers affordable, high-quality education with a focus on developing global citizens and engaged leaders. FHSU consists of four academic colleges: Arts and Sciences, Education and Technology, Business and Leadership, and Health and Biological Sciences, along with its Graduate School. More than 95% of FHSU graduates secure a job in the workforce or are admitted to postgraduate programs.

Experiencing FHSU firsthand is already a reality for Brazilians, like André Aires. He shares that at age 16, he went to the USA to learn English and ended up excelling in American football, ranking third nationwide. After returning to Brazil and starting his Computer Engineering degree, he decided to apply to Fort Hays State University, where he graduated in 2022. In discussing the benefits of pursuing a degree abroad, he highlights the American curriculum as innovative and aligned with the job market.
“The education system in the USA is quite different from Brazil. Here in high school, I had between 16 and 18 subjects to study. In the USA, it was only five, and I could choose my own schedule. I had to adapt to their style, and what stood out most to me was that we learned practical life skills, the so-called soft skills,” André recalls. He also mentions that these skills will be part of the selection process for Hayek Global College.
Regarding FHSU, André emphasizes the state-of-the-art infrastructure. “The university offers an incredible environment, both in terms of facilities and technology. One of the standout areas is Business, which covers courses like Finance, Accounting, Economics, and International Relations.”
In terms of the job market, André reveals that there is high demand for specialized professionals in the USA, especially in his field. “The opportunities for Brazilians are huge,” he states. Graduating in Accounting from FHSU this May, André is now pursuing an MBA and working at an audit and tax firm in the United States. “They supported me throughout the hiring process, from interview training to formatting my resume,” he says.

In Brasília for the launch event of Hayek Global College, André was one of the speakers, representing Fort Hays State University. During the ceremony, he highlighted Hayek’s innovative project. “Hayek is a facilitator for Brazilian students who want to study in the USA, offering a bridge to American universities. If I had had this opportunity six years ago, it would have been much easier,” André concludes.
